Our construction, maintenance and property conservation services range from comprehensive heritage refurbishments to reactive and pre-planned maintenance for commercial and public sectors.

Our experience has been honed from a variety of commercial contracts, including works for HMNB Portsmouth and the NHS, where high standards of professionalism, safety, and quality are paramount.

Planned Maintenance

Our 20+ years’ experience, performing planned works in HMNB Portsmouth, has equipped us with an unrivalled knowledge of building structure, condition, and maintenance.

We have the skills and experience to comprehensively refurbish properties of all ages and construction styles, from commercial offices and medical facilities to industrial warehouses and listed buildings. Recent projects include soundproofing and sash window works at Eastney Block (2022-23) and the external refurbishment of Admiralty House (2021-22).

Reactive Maintenance

Our multi-skilled maintenance team is highly experienced in resolving a wide remit of building issues, including roof leaks, broken windows, and uneven surfaces.

When we’re called out to site, we respond promptly and professionally, working to remedy the issue in as short a time as possible while always maintaining the highest quality standards. In addition, we offer a choice of billing approaches to suit our customers’ needs, including piece work, day work, and callout fees.

Established in 2003, Northport Construction has grown from a small start-up into a leading provider of construction and maintenance services across the UK’s south coast. Based out of Portsmouth, our team, led by Founder and Managing Director Michael Hardy, now consists of more than 20 accredited and highly skilled construction industry professionals.

As a family-run business with decades of experience in the construction industry, our management team brings a unique blend of expertise to every project we undertake.

Michael Hardy

Managing Director

Michael founded the business in 2003 after 15 years’ varied experience of groundworks and civil engineering. His vision was a responsive and quality focused construction and maintenance business that could be relied upon to deliver projects large and small. Having previously undertaken all roles in the business he now oversees health and safety and business development.
Steven Hardy

Commercial Director

Steve joined the business in 2010 and was appointed Operations Director in 2014. Having trained as a plasterer, he progressed to works manager and is SMTS accredited. Steve is now responsible for training, marketing and the smooth running of all company processes, including our ISO 9001 accredited quality management system.
Craig Hardy

Operations Director

Craig joined the business in 2012 and has been a Director since 2017. Having trained as a carpenter, he became SMTS accredited and progressed to works manager. He is now responsible for sales and client services, alongside managing some or our largest projects. Craig is expert at understanding customers needs and proposing solutions that exceed expectations.
Spencer Appleton

Quantity Surveyor

Spencer joined the business as a carpenter back in 2003. He is an SMTS accredited site manager and has served a dual role of surveyor and project manager since 2015. Spencer is responsible for the planning and delivery of our larger projects, including our numerous heritage refurbishments in HMNB Portsmouth and our NHS contracts.
Luke Hardy

Operations Manager

Luke, another Hardy family member of the team, has been an integral part of Northport for five years as Operations Manager at Portsmouth Naval Base. With 12 years of experience running his own business and a background in sales, he excels in operations, team management, and client relations. His approachable nature, honesty, and attention to detail drive new business opportunities and customer retention. Meticulous and punctual, Luke is always focused on continuous improvement.
